BEST OF 2023

REMIX ALBUMS

CRITERIA: Albums can be of EP or LP length.  Must contain remixes as the majority of tracks.

Mechanical Vein
The Remixes You Can't Contain

The companion remix album to the project's debut The Storm You Can't Contain, Mechanical Vein takes these collaborations with artists such as Biomechanimal, Caustic, Faderhead, Saltee, Moris Blak, & others and takes it up another level with 31 tracks of remixes by artists such as ESA, KALCYFR, Toronto Is Broken, Panic Lift, and Zardonic, as well as some of the aforementioned collaborators.  You get dark drum n' bass, heavy industrial bass & dubstep, hardstyle, midtempo and industrial all in one release, so this will be sure to scratch some sort of itch.

Patriarchy
Forcefully Rearranged

Remixing tracks from their 2022 release The Unself, we get remixes from a venerable who's who of scene artists such as Odonis Odonis, The Soft Moon, Pixel Grip, Choke Chain, Zanias, Rhys Fulber, Kontravoid, Street Fever, Spike Hellis, Kris Baha, and many more among these 16 tracks giving these sexually-charged and "perfectly deranged" songs some new life in a new year.

Rhys Fulber
Brutal Nature Redux

Brutal Nature was one of my favourite releases of 2021, and Rhys Fulber comes back with six of these tracks carefully curated by some of the dark techno body music scene's finest such as SARIN, Qual, Evitceles, and Orphx, who gave Youth Code's Sara Taylor's vocals the shortwave radio treatment (somewhere, my old labelmate code 000 would be proud).

Spike Hellis
Altitude Sickness (S/T Remixes)

A collection of remixes from their 2022 self-titled LP that were popping up as single tracks over the course of this year, this record takes those minimal EBM cuts in which we were captivated and adds more body to the music (pun fully intended), including MVTANT taking matters into their own hands and covering a version of "Help" rather than just remixing it.

Wingtips
Remixes

The title tells you EXACTLY what you get; remixes...and some damn good ones, too.  2021's Cutting Room Floor was one of my favourites from that year and this record gives you remixes from that record as well as their 2019 release Exposure Therapy, featuring Hexheart, Kris Baha, SYZYGYX, Twin Tribes, Bootblacks, and Danny Blu (who did one of my favourite tracks from Cutting Room Floor "Repetitive").
